Welcome to Chromìe. My name is Cristina, I was born and live in Pesaro, the city of M: Mare Musica (here Gioacchino Rossini was born!) Majolica (in Pesaro some important manufactures prospered in the Art Nouveau era) Motors. In this province of central Italy, rich in culture, which boasts renowned seaside resorts and picturesque villages full of history, I created my own shop.
Why Chromìe? Simply because I have always been fascinated by everything that belongs to the vast, magical world of color. I draw and paint, at the beginning as a self-taught, from my school days. In my free time, anxious to "get my hands dirty", I experimented with every technique I knew about, ranging from sewing to knitting... to watercolor, then move on to embroidery, beads and again to colored pencils, illustration and portrait.
After high school (yes, I admit, I attended the Scientific High School) instead of university I chose a professional course to learn a trade in the Fashion sector. I became passionate about painting on silk -no batik- and in 1992 I opened a craft workshop.
I have always taken care of every aspect of my work, from the project to the design (often personalized), to the realization, to the packaging. I painted and finished entirely by hand scarves, shawls and scarves, as well as pillows, blankets, linen tablecloths, baby items - bibs and shoes-. In 1998 I participated together with other talented craftsmen from all over Italy in a collateral exhibition at the "Ambiente" fair in Frankfurt; in 2000 I exhibited my articles in a group show in my beautiful region at the Pret-a-Portèr in Paris.
For several years I also worked as a decorator in various furniture factories in the area – I forgot, Pesaro is also the city of Furniture! - ; in this period I learned to master the professional technique of gold and silver leaf without the use of bolus.
During my holidays I did refresher courses, I went to visit fairs and exhibitions (I still love to do it whenever I can) I participated in workshops ... Nunofelt, resins, water paintings "as it once was", and finally the love at first, the painting on porcelain in impressionist style first and then Scandinavian. It was my dream, ethereal shades, transparent, delicate, bright or satin colors; gold and luster with a mother-of-pearl effect. As soon as I could, I went to Milan or Como, in Northern Italy, to learn from great masters small secrets of their trade. When I think back I tell myself that I probably looked like little Charlie in Willy Wonka's chocolate factory.
In 2011 the crisis led me to close the business, it was a very hard time for me ... At first I acquired further new qualifications, then I took back what I did best, painting, and I started from there. I chose ceramics instead of porcelain because it is a material of the local tradition and transmits a feeling of warmth and family that porcelain, colder and "nobler", lacks. Also in case of need it allows me to shape the shape I want. The ceramic biscuit cooks max at 980 °, is more malleable and requires little basic attention; the elegant porcelain instead cooks at 1200 ° / 1300 °, and it is more difficult to find it in biscuits. Also for this reason porcelain is commonly painted on a third fire, and then baked at 780 ° / 820 ° (while the ceramics with third fire is fired at a maximum of 730 °).
In September 2016 some of my glazed ceramics, mounted on rings and necklaces by a specialized company, paraded on the fashion catwalks of Milan, receiving great acclaim. The satisfaction of this success led me to open my own shop on Etsy.
Inside for now you will find objects for the home and gift ready for delivery, in ceramic and porcelain, but I would like to work on exclusive and personalized orders, so do not hesitate to contact me for any request. My brand has just been born, I hope with your help to make it grow soon.
I work with white and colored enamels, mostly apiombic, with some exceptions that I use mainly to obtain the special effects of costume jewelry; majolica colours also suitable for food use; colors, gold, platinum and luster for third fire decoration. Enamelling is carried out by immersion or spraying, brush decoration. On request I also work with decals. I have a professional decoration turner, an oven that reaches 1000 ° in cooking, and I am looking for a second oven to cook at high temperature - 1300 °-. Occasionally I use collaborators, friends, opera creators like me and artists, to meet any particular needs of customers.
Soon I hope to be able to include fabric items, destined, like everything I create, to a colorful, young and refined home.

Benvenuta/o in Chromìe.
Dipingevo e rifinivo interamente a mano foulards, scialli e sciarpe, oltre a cuscini, coperte, tovagliato in lino, articoli per neonati - bavaglini e scarpine-.
